VST Guitar Amp Simulator

Download the Windows VST-Plugin (version 1.0 - 01/03/2011 - 188kB) SH-GuitarAmp.zip or the MAC OS Audio Unit (AU) & VST (version 1.0 - 01/03/2011 - 590kB): GuitarAmp.zip

For the reason that the plug-in development uses the JAVA framework you need to have an installed JAVA Runtime Environment.
If you don't have the JRE (JAVA Runtime Environment) installed then you'll get it here: http://www.java.com/download/manual.jsp


Plug-in Installation:

Windows VST:
Just unzip the dedicated ZIP-File and copy the plug-in folder into your VST plug-in directory.

Apple Mac OS Audio Units and VSTs:
1.) Unzip the dedicated ZIP-File
2.) Copy Transcoder.vst to ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST
3.) Copy Transcoder.component to ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components

Important: To use the Audio Units you need to copy the *.vst as well.

 

The Guitar Tube Amplifier Simulator VST & AU Plug-In


 

Three Tube Stages:
The plug-in simulates three tube stages to distort the guitar signal.
It is not intended to simulate a real amplifier, but to provide a plugin which can create similar distortions with an extensive tone control.

Clean - Just use the gain of the third stage to go from clean to crunch
Crunch - Use the 2nd and 3rd stage by increasing the gain of the 2nd stage first
Lead - Increase the gain of the 1st stage and add 2nd and 3rd stage gain as appropriate


Tone Control:
Low:
Low-Shelf - 500Hz
Mid:
Peaking-EQ - 1kHz
High:
High-Shelf - 1kHz
Pres:
Peaking-EQ - 3kHz

Cabinet-SIM:
The integrated Cabinet-SIM emulates the frequency response of a standard guitar loudspeaker.
If you want to use different microphone/cabinet impulse responses within a convolution plug-in then just switch the Cabinet-SIM off.


Integrated Limiter:

The output signal is brickwall limited to avoid digital clipping.
Just keep an eye on the red limiting indicator (output gain display background color) if you want to avoid limiting.


Technical Specification:

- Simulation of the tube non-linearities
- No delay because there is no convolution of any impulse responses, just an approximation of the tube physics
- 64Bit internal precision
- Oversampling to avoid aliasing caused by the non-linear system
- IIR-Filter for Tone Control
- Support for sampling frequencies of up to 192kHz and beyond
